Bakery Square is soliciting qualifications from artists or artist teams, to provide artwork incorporated into/onto the façade of its newly renovated freshly remodeled building at 6425 Penn Ave, on the interior of its campus in the Larimer neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. This opportunity is for an artist who can work with the Walnut Capital/Bakery Square, Larimer Consensus Group, and in a residency with Lincoln Elementary and The Urban Academy of Greater Pittsburgh, to create a temporary (6-12 months) original public artwork for the Square. Artists will be selected by portfolio—no proposals are required.

All types of media are open to this opportunity that can be feasibly realized within or upon the façade of the building, and within the allocated budget for the project. Local artists and BIPOC are strongly encouraged to apply. A committee composed of Bakery Square staff, Larimer residents, and local art experts will choose an individual or team to contract for design and production of a temporary artwork in Early Spring, 2021. An Information session will be held via Zoom on Thur., January 21, 6:00pm. Attendance is not mandatory. RSVP is requested, but not required.
