About

Allegheny County Airport Authority (ACAA) is building a new terminal and multi-modal transportation complex at Pittsburgh International Airport. The result of the Terminal Modernization Program (TMP) will be an improved passenger experience and a better sense of the culture and amenities of the Pittsburgh region. The conceptual framework for the facilities’ design is Nature, Technology, and Community.

The Art in the Airport Program plans to expand with the TMP, including new permanent commissions and places for temporary art and performances. The ACAA is seeking to commission two artists or artist teams to create sculptural numbers for the baggage claim carousels (artwork). One artist or team will create numbers 1-4 in the North Baggage Claim area. A second artist or artist team will create numbers 5-8 in the South Baggage Claim area, ensuring that each set of numbers has a distinct and cohesive design. The artwork will be experienced daily by tens of thousands of visitors and employees.

Information Session

Allegheny County Airport Authority will host an information session for artists on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 6pm EST. The information session will be held via videoconference. To sign up for the information session, go to Eventbrite.

During the information session, we will review the information presented in this RFQ and respond to questions. Artists do not need to attend the information session in order to apply to the RFQ.
