About the Artist

Ally LushI work in traditional illustration mediums and digital illustration: I use both Adobe applications and Procreate on an iPad. I also use acrylic and oil paints and other media in my work; I have completed several indoor murals in this medium.

Currently based in Pittsburgh, I spent 2016 to 2020 in Gambia and Sierra Leone working in public health, where I began my career in digital illustration, utilizing art as a tool to create appropriate images for public health messaging. I am passionate about public health, equity and the power of illustration as a medium for education. I aim to use art to promote inclusivity and community.

I’ve worked with numerous clients on public health art projects including King’s College London, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the Office of Public Art in Pittsburgh and Riverlife. Among other works, I designed posters for malaria awareness in Sierra Leone, handwashing stations for COVID-19 prevention messaging in Pittsburgh, and safeguarding posters for use in various settings around the world.
