About the Artist
I am a multi disciplinary sculptor focused on a studio practice of making physical artworks while also creating socially engaged projects. I earned a BFA in Art Photography from Syracuse University and an MFA in Sculpture from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Over the last ten years I have created three public art projects in Pittsburgh, worked as the Director of Education and Outreach for Conflict Kitchen, all while continuing to create work. I was the artist in residence at the Pittsburgh International Airport from January 2018 through August 2019 and a recipient of a Keyword International grant for research and work with the refugee community in Pittsburgh. I am currently partnering with Jewish Family and Community Services on The Awaken Home project in which I pair local artists with newly settled refugee families in order to create an ‘artwork of belonging’ for their new homes.

PROJECT
Pittsburgh Creative Corps
Designed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pittsburgh Creative Corps initiative engages artists and creative workers to activate the public realm while providing economic opportunity.
“When I approach opportunities for public artworks I seek out the challenge of engaging with communities, disciplines, and systems of which I may have little or no experience. This sink or swim mentality pushes me to dive deep into the process and to create something unique and of the situation in which I have placed myself. Working in the public realm enables me to engage with other perspectives, offers me new experiences, challenges me on a daily basis, and makes me a part of a process that ultimately connects art to everyday life.”
