About the Artist
Heidi Walsh is a painter, illustrator, and muralist born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She studied Art Education at the California University of Pennsylvania and Interior Design at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After college, her professional career took her in many different directions, from modeling to promotional marketing to owning a clothing boutique.
In 2019, she had the opportunity to realize that what she loved most in any of her jobs were the creative aspects. So she pursued her lifelong dream of creating art full-time. Largely self-taught, working primarily in ink, watercolor, and acrylic, she creates fine art and commercial work. Heidi has shown in many regional group shows, including The Landscape exhibition at the Alex Ferrone Gallery in Cutchogue, New York, and World of Wonder, with the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. She also participates in artist markets, including Mt. Lebanon Artist Market, Lawrenceville Pop-Up Markets, and Crafty Mart in Akron, OH.
She creates public and private murals and has assisted other muralists like Janel Young. Her biggest public art project yet, created in May 2021, is an interactive community art piece commissioned by the Community Redevelopment Authority of Hollywood, Florida. Heidi applied her original design in black lines to nearly 600ft of public sidewalk. Community members can then grab chalk and color the larger-than-life coloring book.
Heidi’s creative practice is based in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. She is eager to continue showing her work and gaining public art opportunities throughout the greater Northeast region and beyond.
