About the Artist
Ian Brill’s work focuses on the accumulation of form through process. Through the creation of interactive, performative, and multi-sensorial environments, he considers boundaries of becoming (versus being) and our immersive relationship with technology. His installations, performances, and writing have been presented internationally, publicly, at conferences, festivals, musical venues, museums, and galleries.
Through the use of custom, architectural structures, programmatic designs, and interactive methods, Brill works with light and sound to cultivate aesthetic and emergent realms.

Pittsburgh Creative Corps
Designed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pittsburgh Creative Corps initiative engages artists and creative workers to activate the public realm while providing economic opportunity.
“When I participate in the making of public art, the form is determined by the context, dimensions, historical use, and intentions of the space. There is great power instilled in any demarcated location. Generally, I see my role as a public artist as leveraging and directing this power for the purpose of calling attention to, initiating, and enhancing community discourse.”
