About the Artist

Kim BeckMy work reflects the landscape as a shifting, mutable place. Moving between drawing, painting, print, photography, and installation, I am drawn to moments where the world frays and patterns or systems break down, and where they are also repaired. For this reason, I have spent the past several years recording potholes and road repairs, weaving images of broken asphalt together, reclaiming and painting broken discarded asphalt. My current work incorporates abstract patterns that go awry, folds, creases, spills, and accidents and ways they are knit back together.
