About the Artist

Naomi ChambersNaomi Chambers remains a visual artist discovering her capability. She creates art under the moniker and brand, BirthdayGirl, SugarFoot, andGG. She has learned to stay open and flexible, but also remain conscientious at all stages of making. She creates art that documents specific and nonspecific events, places, and people in her life. She enjoys dealing with patterns, idea conception, and narrative. Art has become a personal vent, mental exercise, and entertainment to her. Her work is usually layered with multiple concepts because it is reflective of her desire to manage the complexities of her life while connecting to others. She enjoys most when others make a connection to her work. She uses bright colors and borrowing kawaii language to further convey explicit messages of love and adoration of black and brown people. Dealing with her nature to nurture and provide abundance for herself and loved ones her work centers greatly on those themes. She hopes for future opportunities to continue her exploration, and looks forward to fulfilling her call in the arts and social entrepreneurship.

“I want my work to fill people up with love, hope, and wonder like my favorite artists do for me. It’s about the creation of possibilities…new worlds we create for ourselves not solely the one we were born to.”

“Doing public art is important to me. It has been a gift to me, given throughout my life by artists and agencies. These gifts have nurtured me. Before I knew what art was I can remember its effect on me. I want to give gifts that facilitate growth to others.”
